Hi! I am Violablu.
Violablu came from the song Viola Lee Blues. I picked this as my screen name on aol a long long time ago! I loved it and never changed it.
I learned to tie dye about 24 years ago in Atlanta Georgia. I was hired to work for minimum wage putting dye on shirts for a friend. Then we went on Dead Tour and sold them. About 5 years later, I worked in a small tie dye factory ( 4 of us) making bulk tie dyes. Now I live in Colorado and I tie dye with my 9 year old daughter in my kitchen and living room!
I only use Dharma Fiber Reactive Dye. I have and have seen pictures of tie dyes from 20 years ago, and they have not faded! The shirt is more likely to fall apart before the dye fades away.
I learned how to batik a few months ago (2017)
a method (originally used in Java) of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.
cloth that has been dyed using the batik method.
I love you and welcome your feedback and suggestions. Use the Contact Me page to request a tie dye or batik that you can not find here!
